The Brazilian's claims are in relation to a
contract he signed at the Nou Camp in
October 2016, just 10 months before
departing the club last summer.
According to Spanish outlet El Mundo,
Neymar claims he is owed £23m from the
renewal bonus which was part of the terms
of his deal, plus a further 10 per cent
interest.
The Catalan club, however, have launched
their own claim against their former
superstar.
Barca believe they are owed money by
Neymar from the first part of the renewal
bonus in the same contract – as well as
£8m in damages. In total around £65m.
The judicial battle between the two began
to take shape last August when Barca
refused to pay the second part of the
player's renewal premium after learning he
had decided to move to PSG.
Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu,
believed the payment should not be
sanctioned as the player had already
decided to leave the club.
The La Liga giants have taken the stance
that the player, who penned an extension
until 2021, has unilaterally breached the
terms of the contract.
